This has been an odd winter for sure.

We had a few brave women show up for a local IDPA match last year from a group called "Well Armed Women" or something similar. They seemed to enjoy the shooting aspect of being outside and moving around.

Each week another one or two would show up and either shoot or watch to see if those mean men would give them a hard time about moving in to play the game.

Evidently we didn't scare anybody and now we're getting almost a dozen women shooting on the Monday night IDPA match and some of them are drifting over to the Wednesday night Steel Challenge.

I've always said that marketing to women would be a no brainer if I was running a "for profit" range.

As I'm just a Match Director and not an owner it's out of my hands, but it appears there is a very large market not being served for women shooters, both new and experienced.

Hey guys. Finally got some free time to post up again.

If any of you know of any women who would like to start shooting but are afraid of just showing up, you can show them this grandma with a borrowed 22LR rifle from this summer at the Wisconsin State Speed Steel match.

Tell them to just shoot a few warm up matches and after their second try, they'll be either completely bored by the whole scene or you'll be stuck buying ammo for a long, long time.

She had a good instructor. Uh, that would be me.

AD (I'm stuck buying ammo for a long time to come for sure)

I'm sorry. I think I may have posted that video in another thread.

Oh well, no real harm done.

I'll get some new material this week, I hope.

I think I may have created a monster.

My lady now says we WILL be shooting in the Florida State Steel Championship at the end of the month.

She will be shooting Rim Fire Rifle Open in "B" class while I'll be shooting in "A" class.

It's only a two hour drive from the house over near Lake Okeechobee at a very nice range (The OK Corral) so it should be an interesting Saturday.

I'll let you know how it turns out as long as I don't screw anything up too badly.

The good news is that I get no grief when buying ANYTHING firearm related.

Bad news is that the ammunition budget is double most of my friends.

Here's to both of you shooting the lights out!
